Darling Uloma Love Letters from a Secret Admirer - Book Cover

Happy Friday!

This series is long overdue, but here it is anyway. Every Tuesday, I will share an episode from this new series titled Darling Uloma: Love Letters from a Secret Admirer. Like some of the other stories I have written, this is epistolary fiction, that is, written in the form of letters.

Enough rambling. Enjoy the first episode.

Episode 1: I Like You

Darling Uloma:

I like you.  It’s too early for love.  But if love is a destination, I’m confident that we will get there.

Where do I really live?  If I told you, then I would lose some of my mystery.  This letter would feel less special.

That’s not what I want.

I want this letter to be special, to be one of the most unforgettable highlights of your day.  I want to know that if you’re sitting at your desk, and a sweet smile gently crosses your face, I put it there.

There will be more letters, Uloma.  I hope you write back, so we can get to know each other.

Till the next one, I remain …

Your Secret Admirer,

B.

Dear Mister Man:

Who writes letters in 2017?

Haven’t you heard? Technology is shaped like a rectangle.  It fits in your pocket, makes phone calls, sends e-mails and text messages, and can even teach the uninitiated a dozen ways to make jollof rice.

Even grandmas now use Skype and WhatsApp.  So, what’s your excuse? Why are you writing an old-fashioned pen and paper letter to me, when we could be Face-timing or even face-to-face chatting?

You might think this is cute, but I’m already upset that you made me hunt down paper and a pen.

Don’t test me.

If you’re serious, reveal yourself and stop this nonsense.

Sincerely,

Uloma the Unimpressed
